stillness

by rachel

I am seated along the grains of wood
My fingers silent, (        ) tracing their path
When my heart is completely still it sways
slow, along the unintentional raft

I arrive as a wave of emotions
too strong for a sea-sick child like me
till the raft sends me out and home again,
fervent tides returned to the sea

I am seated along the grains of wood
My fingers silent, (         ) tracing their path
The water is calm now, the tides eased but
When the waves hit again, I’ll sail my raft
